1. CityArt Sculpture Walking Tour

Pick up a map and start walking! This exhibit of outdoor sculptures is updated each year with all new works of art that will stand tall year-round. The 2021 lineup includes sculptures in tons of different mediums with some bright colors all around. Take a tour around the city to catch a glimpse of each piece!

2. Minneopa State Park

While just about any outdoor experience in the area is well worth your while, Minneopa State Park requires a slot all its own. From the bison that roam the park to the stunning Minneopa Falls, there is lots to love about the nature preserve. The park’s picnic areas make a great pitstop for families or groups aiming to spend the day soaking in all the park has to offer!

3. Take A Bike Ride!

Get yourself and your family out for a bike ride on one of the many trails in the trail system. Biking loops range from the 10 mile North Mankato Loop to the 35 mile St. Clair, Smith’s Mill, Madison Lake Loop. With over 50 miles of trails, there are options for bikers of any experience level.

4. Red Jacket Trail

The many trails of the greater Mankato area are easy to come by, but Red Jacket Trail is in a league of its own! The trail’s path leads directly into Red Jacket Trail Park on its way to the village of Rapidan. With this beautiful stop, including a canoe launch and picnic area, this trail is a must!

5. Kato Escape Room

If you happen to get caught with nothing to do on a rainy day (or need a break from the outdoors) check this out! Test yourself and your team’s abilities while trying to solve the mystery and get out in time. With five separate themed rooms, this is one summer activity you might have to circle back to.

6. Mankato Playhouse

The Mankato Playhouse’s Broadway Teens will be performing Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr. this summer. These young actors, all grades 6-12, will be singing their hearts out and their audience will be thoroughly entertained!

7. Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota

This museum offers kid-friendly exhibits meant to stimulate young minds and illuminate the wonders of STEAM, agriculture, arts, and local heritage. With fun made with safety and learning in mind, this is a trip you can enjoy just as much as the kids!

8. Javens Family Vineyard and Winery

For a little getaway with the grownups in your life, what better than a trip to the vineyard? With a stunning spot on the banks of the La Sueur River and a wide range of wines to choose from, this spot is a great place to sit back and enjoy yourself!
